Air Service
Major airlines offer frequent, scheduled flights to Vancouver Island’s Victoria International Airport, Comox Valley Airport and Nanaimo Airport from Vancouver, Calgary and Seattle. Once you reach the island you can rent a car at any of the airports listed above.
Orca Airways, based out of the Vancouver International Airport South Terminal, is currently the only airline that provides regular scheduled flights to the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Tofino Air and other float plane operators offer chartered service between downtown Vancouver and the West Coast.
Ferry Service
Ferry service to Vancouver Island is offered from several mainland British Columbia and Washington State departure points. BC Ferries transports vehicles and passengers on regularly scheduled routes to Victoria, Nanaimo, Comox, and Port Hardy.
Washington State Ferries, Blackball Transport’s M.V. Coho, Victoria Clipper Ferry, Victoria Express, and Victoria San Juan Cruises provide passenger only or passenger and vehicle ferry service between various points in northwest Washington and Victoria.
Car & Bus Service
Once you reach the island you can rent a car at any of the airports listed above. If you’re flying into Long Beach, rent a car or catch a taxi from the airport to nearby Ucluelet. Every city with a ferry terminal also offers car rentals.
The Tofino Bus runs express daily service to Ucluelet from Victoria and Nanaimo, connecting with Greyhound Canada, which serves the majority of communities on Vancouver Island. Pacific Coach Lines provides connections from Vancouver (via BC Ferries) to Nanaimo and Victoria. Highway 4 west until the road ends. Turn left on the Tofino-Ucluelet Highway, which becomes Peninsula Road in Ucluelet. Travel time: 2 ½ hours; 206 km (128 mi).

The efficient, modern Island Highway system moves traffic between destinations on Vancouver Island quickly.
From Victoria: Take Highway 1/Highway 19 north to Parksville. Go west on Highway 4 until the road ends. Turn left on the Tofino-Ucluelet Highway, which becomes Peninsula Road in Ucluelet. Travel time: 4 ½ hours; 291 km (181 mi).
From Nanaimo: Take Highway 19 north to Parksville. Go west on the scenic Highway 4 through Port Alberni until the road ends. Turn left on the Tofino-Ucluelet Highway, which becomes Peninsula Road in Ucluelet. Travel time: 2 ½ hours; 197 km (122mi).
From Comox: Follow signs to Highway 19. Go south on Highway 19 to Qualicum Beach. Take Highway 4 west until the road ends. Turn left on the Tofino-Ucluelet Highway, which becomes Peninsula Road in Ucluelet. Travel time: 2 ½ hours; 206 km (128 mi).
